St Barnabas Anglican church
![]() Our church has regular Sunday worship with Sunday School for children up to age 16. On the second Sunday of each month there is a special Family Service. We are also home to Guide & Scout organisations for girls and boys aged 5 upwards. St Barnabas is one of the 377 churches in the Diocese of Southwark. Southwark is one of the 44 Dioceses that comprise the Church of England. Although there has been a church here for many years, the present building was constructed in 1958. It is simple and uncluttered, directing our attention to the Altar table and Cross. It is furnished with art, including the painting of "Virgin & Child" by John Hayward, an enamel "Resurrection Cross" by Lesley Miller and many fine Altar Frontals. St Barnabas - the man Barnabas himself was a Saint, described in the bible as "a good man full of the Holy Spirit and of Faith" (Acts 11:24). His name actually means "Son of Encouragement". He accompanied St. Paul in spreading the Christian message in Cyprus. We remember him on 11th June every year and pray that we, too, might be full of God's goodness, and be effective in encouraging others as we go along life's way.
